About The Position

The Mechanical Testing Department for The Lubrizol Corporation supports the development and testing of current and future advanced mobility needs for the lubricant industry and beyond. A Rebuilder is a support staff member responsible for rebuilding and disassembly of test apparatus equipment in the Gasoline, Diesel, and Field Test areas. The Wickliffe testing facility is part of our Global Headquarters campus, just outside of Cleveland, OH. We are a team of almost 100 people in Mechanical Testing, including about 45 Technicians and Supervisors. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • 3+ years of applicable experience in automotive/engine rebuilding, maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to use specialized measurement instruments such as micrometers and torque wrenches as they relate to the rebuild process.
  • Computer skills, Excel/Microsoft Word.
  • Demonstrate mechanical acumen and familiarity with standard engine / driveline nomenclature.
  • Fundamental knowledge of combustion engines, transmissions, and axle units.
  • Good basic math skills.
  • Ability to document measurement data and issues in an orderly and legible fashion.
  • Ability to train technicians on rebuilding practices

Responsibilities

  • Rebuild test apparatus equipment (gas and diesel engines) to testing specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on associated rebuild equipment.
  • Record and monitor rebuild data.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance as related to rebuild for running tests.
  • Participate in Test review with the customers.
  • Develop and maintain skills to install and remove test units that they are capable of rebuilding.
  • Strive to develop and maintain process improvements, best-in-class safety practices, and cost savings measures.
  • Ability to perform all cleaning functions associated with units that they rebuild.
  • Coordinate with Metrology and Raters for new part measurement/inspection and End of Test measurement/inspection.
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization requirements in rebuild area and tear down room.
  • Represent Lubrizol at industry rebuild workshops.
  • Support all Lubrizol and department initiatives around Safety, Environmental, Quality, 5S and career development.
  • Train and mentor peers in basic repair tasks, adapting instruction to their individual skill levels to support their professional development.
  • Manage rebuilt asset inventory and parts inventory.
  • Manage specialized rebuild equipment and the calibration of the equipment.
  • Recommend new rebuild equipment as needed. Work with vendors to ensure the best pricing and/or equipment to support testing.
  • Strong ability to interact with Technical Staff in Mechanical Testing to troubleshoot issues and implement sustainable solutions.
