Engine Assembly Technician – Level 1
About The Position
As an Engine Assembly Technician – Level 1, you will be responsible for the assembly of engine finished goods and subassemblies. Major aspects may include the high-quality assembly of progressive build steps including short and long block assembly, coupling for 3524 engines, addition of jewelry, and 1X parts. You will be responsible for full-cycle remanufacturing of standard rebuild engines relative to supplied instructions. Based on business needs the successful candidate in this role may start in various steps of the assembly technician progression. Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 7 or higher. Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered.
- Previous experience working on heavy equipment
- Engine / powertrain components
- Understanding of engine / powertrain components
- Understanding of proper torquing procedures
- Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively.
- Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds.
- A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator.
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures.
Nice To Haves
- Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C.
- Capable of operating basic service tools as well as all critical analog measuring devices including dial bore gauges and micrometers is preferred.
- Completion of any automotive or HD technician apprenticeship training is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assembly of subassembly components including oil pans, water manifolds, fuel rails, filter bases, regulator housings, oil coolers, after coolers, and front and rear housings
- Assembly of progressive build CAT diesel or natural gas engines
- Short block assembly, long block assembly, installation of heads, valve lash adjustment, installation of wiring harness or installation 1X parts on engines
