About The Position

We are seeking an Engagement Supervisor to contribute to a team of wellness and engagement professionals who facilitate a variety of programs, events, partnerships and more that support Ways to Age Well for residents across the continuum. This role implements a robust calendar of group and individual programs that support high levels of resident engagement in Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Skilled Nursing. The position implements a Culture of Creativity within the Life Center, ensuring that residents are creators, not just consumers of culture and participants in the human experience, not just recipients of care. This position is full-time, hourly, and located on-site at The Mather in Evanston, IL. Weekend, holiday and evening availability is required.

Requirements

  • College Degree in Recreation Therapy, Creative Arts Therapies, Humanities, Geriatrics or related field, or 3+ years related experience.
  • Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Positive, engaging, and collaborative attitude, strong 1:1 and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to lead by example; self-initiator requiring minimum supervision.
  • Experience developing engaging programs around Health and Wellbeing, Lifelong Learning, and Arts and Culture for adults with various physical and cognitive impairments.
  • Knowledge of person-centered care.
  • Proficiency in MS Publisher, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel and PCC or other related EMR and demonstrated proficiency at documenting to meet regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ability to use or learn a variety of tech-based services and platforms; i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, YouTube, resident facing portals, and A/V set-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers programs for Life Center residents following Culture of Creativity model: including best practices for group and 1:1 engagement with music, movement, storytelling/legacy, nature immersion, culinary arts, sensory experience, inquiry-based learning, and meaningful celebrations of holidays & rituals within daily routine.
  • Implements best practices for engaging residents with diverse physical, cognitive and emotional needs.
  • Develops Life Center programs calendars meeting Mather standards for engagement and wellness: and ensures that programs occur as scheduled via personally facilitating programs & supporting programs led by colleagues, independent contractors and volunteers.
  • Contributes ideas to support program development across the continuum.
  • Facilitates outings/events and participation of Life Center residents in broader community events, and amenities.
  • Completes required assessment processes for regulatory compliance including care plan notes and documentation within the EMR system.
  • Supports MDS process as required.
  • Translates residents’ personal interests and needs developed within assessment and care plan procedures into unique individual and group engagement opportunities and programs within the Life Center calendar.
  • Attends care plan meetings as directed.
  • Provides daily supervision of engagement coordinators including day-to-day coaching in program delivery, resident engagement, and assessment/documentation completion.
  • Contributes to inviting, inclusive, and uplifting culture and therapeutic environment in the Life Center.
  • Identifies ways to engage with residents regularly to seek input and feedforward.
  • Maintains regular communications with residents, family members and staff.
  • Assists with programs and events across the continuum as assigned.
  • Identifies areas for improvement, proposes possible solutions, and participates in data collection and process changes as part of the Quality Assurance Process Improvement process.
