About The Position

Norwescap is seeking an AmeriCorps Member to serve as an Engagement Partner. This role provides holistic support to individuals and families in the communities served by Norwescap, partnering with them to assist in reaching their personal goals that will move them closer to a thriving state. Engagement Partners are responsible for connecting with individuals, assessing their needs, linking them to needed services, documenting the contacts, and providing follow-up. This role is crucial in our work to provide excellent customer service and ensure that every person is connected to every service that can assist them. Norwescap is dedicated to creating opportunities and changing lives for thousands of low-income individuals and families in Northwest New Jersey. Our vision is to help build a community that transforms poverty into opportunity. Norwescap works to accomplish this mission through a comprehensive array of strategies, programs and services that generally fall into six domains or support categories: Education, Employment, Financial Empowerment, Health & Nutrition, Housing & Community Development and Volunteerism & Civic Engagement.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must be able to serve the full term of service.
• Must be able to commit to the required hours of service.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with low-income individuals and families.
• Experience in case management or social services.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
