Engagement Manager

BuildOps
$128,000 - $181,000Hybrid

About The Position

At BuildOps, we’re building a groundbreaking software solution designed to empower today’s commercial contractors. From service management to project execution, we’re reimagining how our customers operate. Our team thrives on ambition, innovation, and collaboration—qualities we look for in every new hire. As an Engagement Manager, you will serve as the strategic owner for BuildOp’s largest customers—accountable for orchestrating outcomes across multiple operating companies (OpCos) within a private equity (PE) structure, from scoping the initial implementation through long-term value realization. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engagement Managers, this role is perfect for someone energized by high-stakes client partnerships, complex program leadership, and the challenge of driving enterprise transformation at scale across PE-backed portfolios.

Requirements

  • 6–10+ years of experience in top-tier consulting and/or complex SaaS implementation, with ownership of multi-workstream programs and executive-level visibility.
  • Proven track record leading enterprise or PE-backed portfolios, ideally in industrial, field service, construction, or adjacent verticals.
  • Hands-on SaaS deployment experience end-to-end: discovery, design, build, test, go-live, and post-go-live optimization.
  • Expert program management skills including governance cadences, risk/issue tracking, dependency management, and decision logging across complex, multi-workstream engagements.
  • Change management expertise with a proven ability to drive stakeholder alignment, develop communication plans, and deliver frontline adoption at scale.
  • Commercial and PS acumen including a strong understanding of professional services economics (scoping, pricing, margin) and how they relate to SaaS ARR and NRR.
  • Executive presence and communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence and command credibility with PE operating partners, CEOs, CFOs, and field leadership.
  • A natural owner who runs accounts like a business—high autonomy, high accountability, and a bias toward decision and action.
  • A strategic thinker who uses data (adoption metrics, utilization, financials) to prioritize, make trade-offs, and translate PE value-creation theses into concrete deployment plans.
  • Someone who thrives in ambiguity, builds structure where none exists, and can scale patterns from one OpCo or portfolio to many.
  • A low-ego collaborator who elevates Implementation Managers and CSMs while staying clearly accountable for portfolio outcomes.
  • An executive communicator who crafts crisp narratives—decks, status reports, steerco materials—that connect implementation details to business impact.
  • A team player with integrity, grit, and a strong work ethic who is energized by making a real difference for the customers we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end success of strategic private equity or holding company accounts—accountable for outcomes across all OpCos, from pre-sale through long-term value realization.
  • Partner with Account Executives on strategic and PE deals to define scope of work aligned to the BuildOps PS catalog (core implementation, ERP migration, tenant migration, data, training, integrations), set clear implementation expectations, and qualify account readiness for kickoff.
  • Lead deployment strategy and program planning across the private equity parent and each operating company—defining program phase, governance cadences, risk/issue management, and cross-OpCo dependencies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including BuildOps Implementation Managers, data/ERP specialists, Customer Success, and Support to deliver against a clear, scoped plan and standard methodology.
  • Maintain a multi-year account plan spanning adoption and utilization targets by holding company and operating company, identify expansion opportunities (additional modules, integrations, new OpCos), and ongoing PS engagements.
  • Represent BuildOps in executive settings including steering committees and executive business reviews with PE operating partners, C-suite stakeholders, and OpCo leadership—crafting crisp narratives that connect implementation details to business outcomes.
  • Champion best practices and reusability across the portfolio—ensuring documentation (runbooks, process maps, RACIs) is captured and reusable across OpCos to scale delivery excellence.
