About The Position

Bespoke Labs is an applied AI research lab focused on curating data and reinforcement learning environments for training and evaluating agents. They have developed notable projects like Open Thoughts, a reasoning dataset, and specialized models such as Bespoke-MiniChart-7B and Bespoke-MiniCheck. They also contribute to Terminal-bench, a key benchmark for agents. Bespoke Labs provides RL environments for leading AI labs and specialized agents for enterprises. As an Engagement Manager at Bespoke Labs, you will be the primary point of contact for customer relationships with major AI labs and enterprises. You will oversee engagements from start to finish, ensuring that Bespoke's deliverables meet customer expectations. This role involves representing the customer's needs internally to research, engineering, and data operations teams, and acting as the external face of Bespoke to foster long-term partnerships. The position requires strong execution skills, managing multiple complex projects with tight deadlines, and maintaining high standards in tracking, documentation, quality, and customer follow-through.

Requirements

  • 1+ years as Engagement Manager at a fast-growth data startup.
  • 3–6 years of experience in customer engineering, forward-deployed engineering, project leadership at a high-growth company, or technical program management.
  • A technical foundation (e.g., degree or experience in CS, engineering, math, or STEM) enabling understanding of technical specs and discussions with ML researchers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with precision.
  • B2B client-facing experience with a focus on execution and delivery.
  • An action-oriented, scrappy, get-things-done attitude.
  • Strong written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with modern AI training and evaluation workflows (e.g., RL, post-training, agent evaluation, large-scale data labeling).
  • Experience working with research or ML engineering teams as a customer or partner.
  • Experience in an early-stage or high-growth environment, involving wearing multiple hats and building processes from scratch.
  • Experience selling into or delivering for technical buyers (e.g., ML platform teams, applied research teams, AI product organizations).

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end execution of customer engagements across frontier labs and enterprise accounts.
  • Act as the customer's advocate internally, translating technical requirements between customer ML/research teams and Bespoke's internal engineering, research, and data operations teams.
  • Manage delivery rigor by tracking scope, timelines, SLAs, budget, and quality across multiple concurrent projects, proactively identifying risks and proposing solutions.
  • Drive account growth by identifying expansion opportunities, scoping follow-on projects, and contributing to proposals with research and product leadership.
  • Collaborate with data operations and engineering to enhance playbooks, tooling, and processes for scalable delivery.
  • Build strong customer relationships through precision, responsiveness, and quality work to secure repeat business and long-term partnerships.
