About The Position

The Engagement Manager, High Reliability Care - Medical Staff Governance role is within Chartis's High-Reliability Care Solutions (HRC) practice, aligned to the Performance Transformation line of business. This role is crucial for supporting medical staff bylaws and peer review work, as well as other quality, safety, and regulatory initiatives within HRC. Engagement Managers lead consulting teams, typically comprising Analysts, Associate Consultants, and Consultants, on projects for healthcare provider clients, with project durations usually ranging from 3 to 6 months. The HRC practice focuses on improving quality, safety, and reliability. This specific Engagement Manager position will primarily focus on Bylaws, Peer Review, and Rules & Regulations projects, but will also contribute to other HRC areas such as regulatory compliance, clinical quality, and patient safety. These engagements often involve collaboration with colleagues from various firm departments, including Clinical, Greeley, and HRC - Compliance, to deliver comprehensive transformation services aimed at achieving clients' clinical, financial, and operational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience working with medical staffs and/or in medical staff services on operational initiatives, including review and revision of medical staff bylaws, developing medical staff policies and procedures, and/or supporting medical staff committees (e.g., Medical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, Peer Review Committee, etc.)
  • Minimum of 3+ years managing others
  • Experience in leading comprehensive engagements or leading work teams within the overall engagement
  • Experience in medical staff services
  • A strong understanding of medical executive committee meetings, bylaws and medical staff governance documents and processes, credentialing and privileging, and general medical staff operations
  • Experience facilitating internal and external meetings.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with overlapping timelines while effectively balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Superior communicator able to convey insights in a way that motivates clients to action, both verbally and in presentations and proposals.
  • Strong people leader, adept at managing team’s work while developing colleagues’ capabilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines and while managing multiple priorities
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, Access, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Passion for materially improving the delivery of healthcare in the world.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM), or related medical staff services certification
  • regulatory compliance, patient quality, and clinical experience and demonstrated flexibility to support multiple HRC service offerings, serving as an Engagement Manager on Compliance or Quality & Safety engagements as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the problem-solving process and day-to-day management of engagement teams, including overseeing teams’ analysis and deliverables, often coordinating with subcontractors as well as consulting team members.
  • Apply thought leadership to client engagements, generating actionable insights that drive meaningful improvement for the firm’s clients, developing frameworks and approaches with broad potential impact.
  • Build and maintain client relationships drawing upon medical staff services, peer review, and accreditation knowledge and insights to address issues within and beyond the scope of specific consulting engagements.
  • Create sophisticated, compelling communications that motivate clients to action.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to junior staff, rapidly developing their skills and knowledge through an apprenticeship-based development model.
  • Help build the firm’s portfolio of business through support of client proposals, participation in industry events, and other marketing activities.
  • Contribute to firm initiatives focused on talent (e.g., recruiting, training), knowledge (e.g., IP development, white papers), and other core areas.
  • Research trends and provide guidance about regulatory and accreditation requirements and best practices for medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to translate regulatory and accreditation requirements for medical staff into work products.
  • Support client engagements across HRC service offerings, with opportunities to contribute to Compliance, Quality & Safety, and other practice areas based on business needs.
