Engagement Lead - Consulting Director

ASI Government•Fort Meade, MD

About The Position

ASI Government is hiring an Engagement Lead (Director) to lead a complex Department of War client engagement. The role is accountable for navigating ambiguous client situations, advising senior leaders, identifying how ASI can address client needs, and translating strategy into disciplined execution and executive-quality deliverables. The Engagement Lead owns consulting rigor across the integrated workplan, team performance, quality, partner coordination, and account growth. The role begins as a hands-on individual contributor or leader of a lean team. The successful candidate will define project vision and strategy while personally structuring analyses, developing and editing PowerPoint and Excel deliverables, leading client meetings, and resolving day-to-day delivery issues. The Engagement Lead partners closely with another ASI Engagement Lead, combining consulting expertise and delivery discipline with government experience, client relationships, institutional knowledge, and subject-matter expertise. Travel is throughout the United States, with periods of no travel and potentially three to four days per week onsite. Consulting Directors typically travel to a single location or centralized region while on contract. Current locations of need include Fort Meade, Maryland; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Fayetteville, North Carolina; the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia; and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. ASI Government’s Department of War practice supports defense leaders across organizations including the Navy, Air Force, and Defense Logistics Agency. Its work addresses acquisition, industrial-base resilience, emerging technology, workforce, and organizational transformation. The practice brings mission expertise and consulting capabilities to translate strategic priorities into practical, measurable results.

  • Translate analysis into a clear storyline and personally develop, review, and refine polished PowerPoint presentations, Excel analyses, written products, and executive briefings.
  • Set and uphold standards for accuracy, logic, visual presentation, attention to detail, and readiness for senior-client review; ensure deliverables require minimal executive rework.
  • Manage program delivery, including action and decision tracking, risk management, meeting cadence, staffing, budget, and timely resolution of issues.
  • Coach contributors through precise direction, rapid feedback, and quality review while remaining accountable for the integrated product.
  • Define and negotiate work-lane scope, roles, interfaces, and decision rights with prime contractors, subcontractors, and other consulting partners.
  • Identify where ASI can contribute distinctive value through AI, acquisition, organizational transformation, implementation, and government-domain expertise.

  • Partner with growth and capture leaders on on-contract growth, proposals, recompetes, account strategies, and reusable offerings.
  • Manage contract performance, staffing, utilization, budget, burn, margin, subcontractor performance, and reporting using timely, accurate data.
  • Identify delivery, relationship, financial, and contractual risks early; implement corrective actions and elevate decisions with clear options and recommendations.
