About The Position

The Engagement Editor works at the center of the programming team’s planning, production, and promotion of content for millions of daily users. This is both an editorial and technical role, involving daily use of AI tools and algorithmic curation to deliver the right content to the right people at the right time. The editor applies sound editorial judgment alongside technical execution and helps translate the team’s content strategy into day-to-day programming decisions. Responsibilities include writing and sending push notifications, building and updating in-app banners and promotional slots, curating the homepage and other content surfaces, and managing on-site and in-app modules. The editor uses data and AI-backed curation tools to inform planning, programming, timing, packaging, and placement; supports newsroom decisions with audience and trend feedback; and maintains a forward-looking content calendar. The role also upholds editorial quality, collaborates across the content team, and seeks to grow engagement and reach. The position is based in New York or Atlanta, follows a hybrid model with three days a week in the office, and reports to the Director, Programming. The role is identified as a contract position.
