About The Position

The Software and Ground Solutions group at BAE Systems Aerospace & Mission Systems is seeking a software engineer to deliver high-quality embedded software and associated test infrastructure across a portfolio of software programs. Technology areas include software development integration and test, CI/CD, and containerization. The role supports the design, development, integration, and testing of embedded software systems and integrates custom-built software applications with industry-standard applications to deliver enterprise ground systems. The engineer develops solutions to complex problems, works with customers and cross-functional teams, provides guidance to less experienced employees, and supports customer program gates. The position requires regular in-person work at the primary location five days each normally scheduled week. Travel and local commuting between company campuses and other locations may be required. Work may take place in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or a remote research environment; occasional work in production areas may require protective equipment.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field, plus at least 8 years of related experience; related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
A current, active Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
Knowledge of systems engineering roles and functions, particularly verification and validation, including operations concept development, requirements management, functional analysis, and interface definition and control.
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipelines.
Experience in automated software testing.
Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby.
Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira.
Any degree must be from a university, college, or school accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education. Each higher-level related degree, such as a master's degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of related disciplines including software engineering, hardware engineering, integration, test engineering, quality engineering, and configuration/data management.
Experience with mission integration, including operations readiness activities, rehearsals, and launch support activities.
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) SysML diagrams, including Block Diagrams, Internal Block Diagrams, State Machines, Activity Diagrams, and Sequence Diagrams.
Experience with a requirements management tool such as Jama or DOORS.
Experience with satellite operations.
