The Enforcement Services Officer will administer and enforce all municipal regulatory by-laws, including Property Standards, Zoning, and Traffic by-laws. The position involves investigating and documenting by-law infractions, coordinating joint enforcement measures, responding to emergency property standards needs, conflict resolution, educating the public on by-law compliance, ticketing for non-compliance, responding to resident complaints, proactive patrolling, and providing parking enforcement for special events, parks, and school zones. Attending trials and providing evidence as needed is also part of the role. The successful candidate will contribute positively to the corporate culture by demonstrating the Town’s CARE core values (Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged) and building positive rapport internally and externally to achieve the mission of delivering services that make a difference in the community.

Requirements

  • A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in law enforcement, law and security administration, police foundations, or enforcement related discipline.
  • Designation as a Certified Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO(C)) through the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association.
  • Designation as a Certified Property Standards Officer (CPSO) through the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers.
  • A minimum of (4) years of directly related experience including parking enforcement.
  • Proficiency in a Windows based environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the MS Office Suite (including MS Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Understanding of database applications.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory police record check to the Corporation as a condition of employment.
  • Successful candidates are required to hold and maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and qualify for the Town’s Safe Driver Program criteria.
  • Self-motivated, solutions-oriented team player with technical knowledge of, and experience in, municipal law enforcement and provincial statutes and regulations.
  • Ability to convey thoughts clearly and concisely, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team environment among co-workers.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to listen attentively and ask questions for clarification and understanding.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with the public.

Responsibilities
