About The Position

The Parking Enforcement Officer position is in the Division of Facilities Planning & Management’s (FP&M) within the Department of Transportation Services. The Parking Enforcement Officer plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and well‑regulated parking operations across the UW–Madison campus. This position ensures compliance with campus parking policies, supports daily parking operations, and provides guidance to students, staff, and visitors regarding available parking options. This role will monitor parking lots and structures to ensure permit holders can access their designated areas without obstruction. They also conduct stall counts and occupancy checks, which support accurate permit allocation and data‑driven decision‑making by the permits team. Parking Enforcement Officers may assist with posting or bagging reserved stalls, assisting with construction‑related parking adjustments, and completing a variety of operational tasks that arise throughout the day. Successful candidates can shift quickly, show flexibility and strong situational awareness, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities to meet the needs of Campus.

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to diverse audiences
  • Driver’s license required – valid and meets UW Risk Management standards

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Parking Enforcement Officer or equivalent experience such as a Security Guard, Patrol Officer, Loss Prevention Associate, Event or Crowd Control staff, etc.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Enforces parking violations across property
  • Accurately records vehicle description, location, and parking violation issue parking citations
  • Enters parking usage data for multiple stall types in campus parking facilities
  • Clears snow and ice around access points of parking facilities
  • Provides directions and education about parking with customers
  • Vehicle maintenance and inspections
  • Maintains mechanical functions of parking meters and gate equipment
  • Investigates parking eligibility, and compliance with policy
