Join ICF and help support federal energy leaders, national laboratories, and public-sector partners as they plan, evaluate, and implement the energy systems of the future. We are building a multidisciplinary team of energy professionals with backgrounds spanning engineering, economics, policy, power systems, commercialization, energy markets, infrastructure, data analytics, and industrial innovation. If you bring expertise in one or more of these areas and are passionate about shaping the future of U.S. energy, we encourage you to apply. We welcome professionals with approximately 5–11 years of relevant technical, analytical, and consulting experience. Remote candidates within the United States are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to candidates located near client facilities or with the ability to travel occasionally to support client engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, public policy, energy systems, finance, data science, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in one or more energy-related fields such as power systems, grid modernization, infrastructure, energy markets, industrial systems, emerging technologies, commercialization, energy economics, policy, or related domains
  • Experience applying analytical, technical, economic, modeling, or data-driven approaches to energy-related challenges
  • Experience supporting DOE, federal agencies, national laboratories, utilities, or related energy-sector organizations preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (M.S., MPP, MBA, Ph.D.)
  • 8+ years of relevant professional energy experience including critical minerals/supply chain analysis, energy emerging technologies/water, grid modernization/resilience, energy security, transmission/distribution, infrastructure, and/or data centers.
  • Experience working on federal R&D, energy infrastructure, or industrial innovation programs
  • Familiarity with energy market structures, regulatory frameworks, or grid systems
  • Experience with economic modeling, techno-economic analysis, or decision-support tools

Responsibilities

  • Analyze trends shaping U.S. energy security, industrial competitiveness, and grid modernization
  • Support the design and evaluation of federal energy programs, portfolios, and performance metrics
  • Conduct economic, regulatory, and policy analysis to inform investment and strategic decisions
  • Contribute to technology commercialization and technology-to-market strategies
  • Support transmission, distribution, grid resilience, and power sector infrastructure studies
  • Evaluate large-load, data center, and industrial electricity demand
  • Assess grid systems, energy infrastructure, and emerging energy technologies
  • Assess supply chains, critical minerals, manufacturing systems, water resources, and industrial infrastructure
  • Evaluate industrial competitiveness and infrastructure needs supporting the evolving energy economy
  • Perform market, economic, financial, and scenario analysis
  • Develop analytic tools, dashboards, and decision-support platforms
  • Conduct modeling, sensitivity, and uncertainty analysis using quantitative methods
  • Translate technical and analytical findings into clear and actionable insights
