DEQ is recruiting an Energy Resource Professional to join the Bureau's Energy Planning Section.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, biological earth sciences or engineering, Business Administration, or other relevant field or equivalent related experience in energy system analysis and design, grant management, and project development.
• Strong communication oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization.
• A record of effective teamwork.
• Current valid Driver's License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.

Nice To Haves

• Experience interpreting statistical and engineering data.
• Analyzing financial reports.
• Conducting power systems planning and implementation.
• Experience with or exposure to utility operations and energy markets.
• Preferred experience with electric transmission and distribution systems planning; grant management and program implementation; emergency management and response; stakeholder engagement and customer service; and project tracking and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Collect, synthesize, and present data on energy prices, consumption, production, and market trends.
• Evaluate the financial and economic impact of proposed energy policies, environmental regulations, and energy efficiency and incentive programs.
• Analyze utility integrated resource planning activities related to the costs and benefits of resource additions, power infrastructure upgrades, new technology adoption, and regional energy markets and adequacy programs.
• Translate complex quantitative data into actionable reports and appealing visual presentations for non-specialist stakeholders and policymakers.
• Collaborate with internal staff to support Bureau's responsibilities for energy security and planning, clean transportation and federal grant programs.
