In alignment with Microsoft values, this role cultivates an inclusive work environment and focuses on reducing stranded capacity by applying optimization techniques for space, power, cooling, and network. As a key member of the local Datacenter Operations team, the Energy Resource Manager (ERM) will be involved in the deployment planning and optimization of IT capacity, working closely with Electrical Engineers and Critical Environment Field Service Engineers. Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers Microsoft's cloud services, and this role is crucial in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. The ERM will achieve this by improving Infrastructure Utilization Effectiveness (IUE) and Power Harvesting (PH), leading retrofit efforts for legacy datacenters, and optimizing capacity in the existing fleet. CO+I is committed to employee development, offering training, growth opportunities, Career Rotation Programs, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, and professional certifications. Microsoft's infrastructure includes a vast global portfolio of over 200 datacenters in 32 countries, supporting over 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide. Environmental sustainability and optimization are central to datacenter design and operations as Microsoft continues to grow and evolve as a world-class cloud provider.
