About The Position

NYC Parks is an award-winning city Agency that builds and cares for public spaces for New Yorkers to connect, play and enjoy. These public spaces, encompassing over 5,000 properties and 14% of the city’s land and coastline, include seawalls and waterfronts, pedestrian bridges, beaches and boardwalks, parks and playgrounds, historic houses, recreation centers and pools. The Energy Project Manager will report to Citywide Services’ Energy Manager in the Building Optimization Team. The Energy Project Manager will be responsible for supporting energy efficiency retrofit and clean energy project delivery at Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR).

Requirements

  • Site surveys of lighting, mechanical systems and envelope conditions of Parks facilities.
  • Review energy and retro-commission audits prepared by third parties.
  • Perform energy saving calculations to estimate utility cost savings, project payback and emissions reductions for energy efficiency projects.
  • Help prepare applications for expense and capital funding through programs offered by DCAS, DEM or other funding sources.
  • Review and analyze different data sources (e.g. utility data, interval/real-time metered data, and trend data from building automation systems).
  • Propose and implement measurement and verification methodology to ensure project performance.
  • Maintain detailed records and provide progress reports.
  • Coordinate with other Parks Divisions and guide projects through necessary expense and capital procurement procedures (e.g. Citywide requirement contracts, micro-purchases, expense and capital contracts).
  • Liaise with other City agencies such as DCAS, DEM and with “third party” organizations that provide programs and services through Parks.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Energy Manager for Citywide Services with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, assist in various tasks related to energy management, coordinating as necessary with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Division of Energy Management (DEM) and various other Parks Divisions to achieve Energy Conservation Measures and the reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions associated with the Agency’s energy portfolio.
