Xcel EnergyMinneapolis, MN
$19 - $28Hybrid

About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our Customer Energy and Transportation Solutions (CETS) organization, specifically within the Product Planning and Strategy team in Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact analytical projects that support the planning, evaluation, and regulatory reporting of demand-side management (DSM) programs serving customers across our service territory. The intern will work directly with technical consultants to evaluate the cost-effectiveness and financial performance of DSM programs for Northern States Power-Minnesota (NSP-M) and Public Service Company (PSCo). A key responsibility of the role will be supporting the development of cost-benefit analyses and associated documentation for regulatory filings, including ownership of analytical components supporting the Company's South Dakota DSM filing. In addition to regulatory and financial analysis activities, the intern will help identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of program planning and reporting. This includes evaluating opportunities for new dashboards, automated reporting tools, and business intelligence solutions that provide ongoing visibility into program financial incentives, cost-effectiveness metrics, and mid-year program performance. The internship provides hands-on experience with utility program planning, financial analysis, cost-effectiveness testing, and data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will gain exposure to how utilities evaluate energy efficiency investments, support regulatory compliance, and develop customer-focused programs that advance clean energy goals. Throughout the program, the intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop professional analytical skills, and present project findings and recommendations to business leaders.
