About The Position

The Squires Group is seeking an experienced Energy Program Manager to support mission assurance and energy resiliency initiatives for a high-profile federal customer. This role will lead the development and implementation of advanced energy strategies designed to ensure uninterrupted power for critical space operations and national security missions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing utility-scale energy projects, microgrid development, and emerging energy technologies, including advanced nuclear and Small Modular Reactor (SMR) solutions. This individual will work with senior government stakeholders to evaluate infrastructure vulnerabilities, develop resiliency plans, support classified programs, and align energy investments with operational readiness and mission requirements. This opportunity is on-site in the DC Area. Per our Federal Government Contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an ACTIVE TOP SECRET CLEARANCE.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of experience managing utility-scale energy projects, including microgrids, distributed energy systems, advanced nuclear technologies, or related energy infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Department of Defense energy resilience initiatives, mission assurance principles, and critical infrastructure protection.
  • Experience navigating federal regulatory environments, including DOE, NRC, and other energy-related compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical risk assessments and evaluate infrastructure vulnerabilities.
  • Experience supporting sensitive or classified operational programs.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Headquarters-level organizations and developing staffing or approval packages for facility requirements.
  • Prior Civil Engineer experience within the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force.
  • Familiarity with installation energy planning, mission assurance frameworks, and federal energy procurement processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mission assurance energy and resiliency initiatives supporting critical space and defense operations.
  • Develop and evaluate utility-scale energy solutions, including microgrids, advanced power generation systems, and emerging energy technologies.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, business case analyses, and risk assessments for energy resilience projects.
  • Assess infrastructure dependencies, operational vulnerabilities, and mission-critical power requirements.
  • Coordinate with federal agencies and regulatory organizations, including DOE and NRC, regarding project compliance and approval pathways.
  • Support classified resiliency planning efforts and integrate energy strategies into mission assurance programs.
  • Advise leadership on energy security, installation readiness, and long-term infrastructure resilience.
  • Prepare and present program status, recommendations, and strategic plans to senior stakeholders.
