About The Position

Under general supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs energy management systems and related equipment; performs related work as required. This is the advanced journey level in the Energy Management Technician series. Positions in this class are distinguished from the Energy Management Technician I by the complexity of the assignments, the level of independence with which incumbents work, and the expectation that incumbents will perform the full range of duties as assigned. The Energy Management Technician II is expected to perform the full range of duties of the class and may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians. The work involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex energy management systems and equipment. This position requires a high degree of technical expertise and problem-solving skills in the field of energy management and building automation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in HVAC, electrical, or a related field, OR four (4) years of journey-level experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of energy management systems and related equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Nevada State Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex control system problems.
  • Familiarity with energy management software and building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specific building automation systems (e.g., Trane Tracer, Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens Desigo).
  • Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or energy management.
  • Experience in a school district or similar public sector environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance on energy management systems and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs complex energy management systems, including pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls.
  • Installs new energy management systems and upgrades existing systems.
  • Calibrates sensors, actuators, and other control devices.
  • Monitors system performance and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Responds to service calls and emergency situations related to energy management systems.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Works with vendors and contractors to ensure proper installation and maintenance of energy management systems.
  • May provide technical guidance and training to lower-level technicians.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and district policies.
