The Energy HVAC Technician I is a mid-level field technician or trades apprentice position responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and heat pump equipment. This role also performs all tasks associated with an Energy Efficiency Tech (EET). HVAC Techs insulate, balance airflow, retrofit, diagnose, and repair ductwork, and install upgrades in homes to improve safety, reduce energy costs, and enhance comfort and sustainability. They work and drive in various weather conditions across a large region, in diverse housing types, communities, and households. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling work, assembling tools and materials, loading and unloading vehicles, and documenting work quality and job costs through notes, receipts, and photos. Under supervision, they will safely identify, handle, and dispose of refrigerants and other typical HVAC hazardous materials. Techs communicate regularly with team members and community members in person and electronically using smartphones and other tools.
