This internship role is seeking an enthusiastic Summer Energy Engineer Intern who is passionate about energy conservation and eager to develop technical expertise in energy cost-saving projects for various building types. The intern will support Michaels’ engineers, building owners, utilities, consultants, and partners in their efforts to save energy and reduce utility expenses. Effective client and customer communication is also a key aspect of this position.
Requirements
- Junior or Senior level students working towards degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering
- Proven strong academic background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
- Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills
- Passion for energy conservation
- Ability to travel regionally up to 30% for customer site visits
Responsibilities
- Perform energy analysis using established calculation templates
- Collect data from online or in-person sources to support engineer work
- Assist in report writing for customers
- Perform research tasks
- Develop new calculation templates and tools
- Learn from and shadow experienced engineers on: Energy efficiency industry, Utilities, HVAC, Industrial systems, Lighting, Strategic energy management, Business energy assessments, Audits, RCx studies, Custom rebates, Electrification
