About The Position

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Energy Educators will lead the daily Business Energy Consultations and Home Energy Assessment Program. These consultations and inspections require a home/business energy assessment, interface with multiple databases, installation of energy-saving devices, and ensuring that high-quality customer satisfaction is delivered.

Requirements

  • Training in weatherization and/or energy efficiency principles and techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in an urban setting with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Exercises good judgment and always maintains safety
  • Able to lead, motivate, be diplomatic, and build positive rapport with customers
  • Able to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Able to bend, stoop and reach
  • Able to learn and work with new technology (e.g., handheld data devices)
  • Current Michigan driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Able to work in very fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct home and business energy assessments, including travel, customer meetings, paperwork, and data input using a handheld tablet.
  • Install energy-saving devices.
  • Maintain accurate supply inventory on a daily basis.
  • Communicate project goals and represent project partners positively.
  • Record findings from energy assessments (e.g., insulation level, thermostat type, furnace efficiency and condition) and manage required forms and worksheets.
  • Educate customers on low- and no-cost energy conservation measures (e.g., sealing air leaks, changing furnace filters).
  • Provide customers with information on additional energy education and savings opportunities, including referrals to social service programs and assistance in creating energy-saving action plans.
