About The Position

ICF is seeking multiple Energy and Climate Researchers to support its energy and climate planning consulting practice. These roles will focus on research, data analysis, technical reviews, report writing, and engagement activities. Key areas include energy and economic analyses, procurement and planning, regulatory and policy support, greenhouse gas accounting and management, infrastructure climate risk and resilience, and supporting clients with sustainability goal setting and performance management. The positions emphasize quantitative analysis, synthesizing research and data through statistical analysis, data visualization, and modeling. Candidates must be able to communicate quantitative results effectively in reports and presentations. This is an entry-level position for candidates with 0-1 years of experience, available to start Summer 2026. The role is based in ICF’s Crystal City office (Arlington, VA) or Reston, VA Headquarters, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring a minimum of 2 days in the office per week.

Requirements

Completed Bachelor’s degree by start date in Environmental Data Science, Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental or Energy Engineering, Economics, Chemistry, Math, Statistics, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy, Operations Research, or similarly related field.
0-1 years of experience.
Available to start working Summer 2026.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated interest in energy, economic, clean energy, climate or sustainability topics.
Comfort performing quantitative analyses.
Comfort managing and analyzing large datasets.
Comfort working with quantitative data analysis tools, particularly Microsoft Excel, R, and/or Python for advanced statistical analysis, data visualization, and modeling.
Experience with GIS.
