About The Position

The Energetic Materials Technician will blend and process pyrotechnic and explosive material for use in production. This role involves handling hazardous materials and requires strict adherence to safety procedures.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Obtain and maintain a driver’s license upon hire to drive company vehicles.
Ability to read and understand procedures and follow specific written and verbal instructions.
Maintains a clean work area per Quality and Safety standards.
Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel; ability to learn and become proficient in our internal computer programs and applications.
Function Specific RCRA training upon hire.
Ability to work effectively with other employees as part of a team as well as ability to work independently to accomplish tasks using time management skills with minimal supervision.
Ability to multi-task in support of end-result/goal.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months related experience and/or training is preferred.
Knowledge of production processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

Blends and processes pyrotechnic, primary and secondary explosive materials by reading, interpreting and following established procedures.
Takes inventory and records updates for items processed.
Fills and delivers containers of powders for production use.
Drives company vehicles as needed.
Moves energetic materials throughout the facility as directed.
Responsible for some hazardous waste management functions. Performs physical waste activities (e.g., moving containers, collecting samples, deactivating materials, etc.)
Assists others in the powder processing area as directed by supervisor.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
