Endpoint Desktop Engineer

About The Position

We are looking for a skilled Endpoint Desktop Engineer to support and enhance the technology platforms used across Staples retail stores. This role focuses on application packaging, endpoint configuration, troubleshooting, and contributing to engineering initiatives that improve reliability and performance in a large, distributed retail environment. You will work closely with Senior Engineers, Store Operations, Infrastructure, Security, and other IT teams to deliver stable, secure, and scalable solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in desktop engineering or endpoint support roles.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience with an endpoint management tool; Microsoft Configuration Manager or HCL BigFix experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with a coding/scripting language for automation and operational support; PowerShell proficiency preferred.
  • Experience with Windows 10 LTSC and Windows 11 support in enterprise environments.
  • Experience using and manipulating MSI and MSIX application packaging technologies.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, hardware, and application layers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting retail store environments (POS systems, peripherals, kiosks)
  • Exposure to distributed endpoint management or large-scale deployments
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management platforms such as Intune or Workspace One
  • Interest in advancing automation, scripting, or engineering capabilities
  • Foundational knowledge in information security

Responsibilities

  • Assist in engineering and implementing solutions for retail store endpoints
  • Support Windows client operating system configurations, images, and policies
  • Package and deploy applications using endpoint management tools
  • Provide Tier 3 support for store desktops, devices, and related infrastructure components
  • Use scripting technologies to automate tasks, improve operational efficiency, and support deployments
  • Participate in evaluating new hardware and operating systems for future use
  • Maintain documentation for build processes, support procedures, and technical standards
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners in IT and business teams
  • Assist in knowledge sharing and help mentor junior team members as needed
