About The Position

Join The Oregon Clinic as a full-time Endoscopy Technician in our Gastroenterology East at Gateway Clinic in Northeast Portland. This role involves working with a collaborative team of patient-focused colleagues and physicians to deliver world-class care with kindness and empathy. Using excellent customer service and communication skills, the primary duties include assisting with procedures, performing specialty-related tests/monitoring, and monitoring sedated patients. Responsibilities also encompass collecting, labeling, and handling specimens, reprocessing and disinfecting instruments, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and responding to emergencies. The technician will assist medical staff by collecting information, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for procedures. Post-procedure duties may include assisting with recovery, providing information, and transporting patients. Clinical support duties, quality control, equipment maintenance, and checking for outdated items may also be assigned, along with assisting in overall patient care delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous Endoscopy Technician or Medical Assistant experience is strongly preferred.
  • Specialty GI experience is a plus!
  • Medical Assistants and CNAs are encouraged to apply!
  • Current CPR/BLS within 60 days of hire.
  • Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience is preferred.
  • Epic experience is a plus!
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, work independently, and effectively multitask.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with procedures, performing specialty-related tests/monitoring, and monitoring sedated patients as needed.
  • Collect, properly label, and handle specimens in accordance with facility policy and regulatory standards; ensure accurate patient identification and specimen verification processes are followed.
  • Performs reprocessing and disinfecting of instruments.
  • Maintains a comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment. Responds to emergency situations as directed.
  • Responsible for assisting the medical staff by collecting information, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for procedures.
  • May perform post-procedure duties including assisting with post-anesthesia recovery, providing information and education, and transporting patients.
  • Performs clinical support duties as assigned; may include quality control, maintenance of equipment and checking for outdated medication/equipment.
  • Assisting with the overall delivery of patient care in the departments and with other duties as assigned.
