About The Position

Provides technical assistance to the physician and RN during the Endoscopic procedure under the supervision of the RN and ensures the Endoscopic suite is adequately prepared for the procedure. Monitors PAR levels of the Endoscopy equipment and supplies and contributes to the safe and sterile endoscopy environment. Cleans and sterilizes the Endoscopic scopes and equipment and completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Familiar with PC’s required.
  • Exemplary verbal communication skills required.
  • Exemplary core customer service skills required.
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate as an Anesthesia Tech, Surgical Technologist, LPN or Medical Assistant from an accredited Preferred
  • Minimum 1 year Endoscopy Technician experience Preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an Anesthesia Technician or Surgical Technician in the Operating Room Preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant in critical care area Preferred
  • Prior experience with airway management, sterile equipment, and sterile fields Preferred
  • Prior EMR experience preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants Preferred
  • Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant - National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Preferred
  • Licensed Practical Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Preferred
  • Certified Anesthesia Technician - American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians Preferred
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists the RN/Physician with proper positioning of the patient.
  • Ensures appropriate supplies are available for the physician.
  • Identifies supplies and equipment necessary to perform specific endoscopic procedures.
  • Tests equipment for proper functioning and availability prior to procedures
  • Performs skilled technical tasks under the supervision of the registered nurse or physician.
  • Participates in physician updates and notifies the physician/RN if there is an issue with aseptic technique during the procedure.
  • Order and restock supplies as needed
  • Demonstrates competence in proper handling, labeling, transporting and logging of specimens.
  • Handles endoscopes appropriately.
  • Demonstrates proper preparation and high-level disinfection of Endoscopes
