About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician assists physicians during endoscopic procedures, helps maintain a safe working environment, cares for instruments and equipment, and anticipates the Endoscopist’s needs by planning and preparing appropriately. The role also supports patient comfort, procedure-room readiness and cleaning, specimen handling, equipment maintenance, and related administrative and transport duties.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED equivalency.
At least one year of healthcare experience.
Computer literacy and knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, and Olympus Image Manager.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter and team player who works well under pressure and has strong interpersonal and manual dexterity skills.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Assist physicians with endoscopic procedures, following universal precautions and orientation and competency tools; obtain and record patient data such as vital signs.
Verify the patient’s name, companion, and procedure type.
Prepare the procedure room, physical environment, endoscope, and required supplies in accordance with Endoscopy policies and procedures.
Promote a therapeutic environment and provide patient care consistent with hospital comfort measures and departmental policies and procedures.
Clean and test equipment to maintain it in excellent condition, and report malfunctions to the nurse in charge.
Clean the procedure room, endoscopes, and accessories after procedures.
Enter patient data into the Image Manager Computer System as trained by the manufacturer.
Collect and label specimens obtained during procedures in accordance with hospital and Endoscopy guidelines.
Support patient comfort as directed by the Nurse, taking the patient’s age into consideration.
Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in procedure rooms daily.
Participate in staff meetings, manufacturer-led in-services, and other conferences to maintain and update Endoscopy knowledge and skills.
Perform secretarial duties.
Perform transporter and messenger duties when assigned by the Head Nurse.
Perform related duties as required.
