About The Position

Performs the role of an Endoscopy Tech with on-the-job training for general endoscopy procedures utilized daily in an inpatient/outpatient setting. Duties include coordinating instrumentation and specialized equipment/supply needs, preparing the table, assisting the proceduralist and other staff during procedures, and maintaining knowledge of high-level disinfection processes. The position requires adherence to standards and guidelines from multiple industry agencies (TJC, AAMI, AST, FDA, SGNA) and includes some on-call work. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or post-high school diploma / highest degree earned.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training in sterile processing, surgical technology or on-the-job training preferred.
  • One (1) year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the procedure room for cases by opening sterile supplies, setting up the procedure table, and arranging instruments and supplies according to the type of case and the proceduralist's preference.
  • Provides technical assistance with the preparation of the patient and any specialty equipment.
  • Assists the surgical team during the operative procedure.
  • Cares for specimens and handles drugs and solutions under the direction of the RN.
  • Maintains a clean field during procedures.
  • Adheres to accepted standards for providing safe patient care in the procedural environment.
  • Operates advanced equipment and supplies.
  • Complies with policies addressing safe working conditions and reports unsafe working conditions.
  • Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures.
  • Returns unused supplies, instruments, and extra equipment to proper storage.
  • Assists with coaching, mentoring, and training coworkers as assigned.
  • Trains and assists with the integration of new team members.
  • Shares knowledge, ideas, and expertise to support the team and the department.
  • Maintains all responsibilities and performs all duties included in specialty team assignment, and ongoing education as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
