Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient (s) age.
  • Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
  • Constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
  • Registered Medication Aid licensure in applicable state required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of endoscopy experience preferred.
  • Endoscopy Technician Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient care and related services under the direction of Physicians and Registered Nurses.
  • Assists with care of the adult and pediatric population.
  • Organizes the supplies and equipment in the endoscopy suites/operating room.
  • Assists/provides direct patient care throughout the entire patient experience including pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure for the patient in undergoing and endoscopy procedure.
  • Assembles required equipment and supplies.
  • Assists the physician during the procedure.
  • Performs specimen collection, labeling and transportation.
  • Assists in room turn-around including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, environment including high level disinfection of endoscopes and equipment.
  • Understands concepts of Sterile and Non-Sterile Techniques.
  • Administers medication as prescribed by the physician appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to safety measures.
  • Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
  • Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, providers, and all levels of healthcare.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs as prescribed.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members.
  • Resolves conflicts independently as appropriate.
  • Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
  • The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
