About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients on the Endoscopy Unit according to individual needs, physician orders, recognized nursing practice, and established policies and procedures. Duties include pre-procedure and post-procedure care for patients scheduled for endoscopic and InterStim procedures, as well as initiating and assisting with emergency measures as needed. The nurse may supervise licensed and unlicensed personnel as instructed by the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or Charge Nurse.

The position is in an outpatient facility equipped for diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy procedures. Patients range from adolescent to geriatric, with more than 90% age 30 or older. Medical care is managed by physicians credentialed and privileged by the Board of Directors.

Requirements

• At least one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
• Graduation from an accredited school or college of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in South Carolina or current Registered Nurse licensure in another Compact state.
• Current BLS certification.
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to provide and evaluate patient care.
• Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures for administering patient care.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• Demonstrated initiative, insight, and judgment in decision-making.
• Ability to apply and modify professional nursing principles, methods, and techniques to provide ongoing patient care.
• Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
• Skill in complete and thorough documentation.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
• Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking.
• Ability to communicate clearly and react calmly and effectively in emergencies.

Nice To Haves

• Clinical experience in Endoscopy, ER, OR, or ICU.
• Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and procedures.
• Basic computer and keyboard skills.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
