About The Position

The healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Endoscopy Nurse with a strong background in trauma care and endoscopy procedures. This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care in the endoscopy unit. The Endoscopy unit serves patients needing Upper and Lower Endoscopy, including advanced procedures such as Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), as well as Pre-operative and Post-operative recovery (Phase I and Phase II), with some ICU-level care required. The team comprises 6 Endoscopy Nurses/Technicians and an anesthesia team providing sedation. The charting system used is EPIC, and equipment includes an ION robot for robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, and Omnicell and Alaris systems. Travelers can float to Pre-Operative or PACU areas as needed but will not be assigned to the main operating room as primary nurses. A comprehensive 1-week orientation is provided.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with 2 years of Level 1 or 2 trauma experience.
  • Endoscopy Technician with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Registered Nurse: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Endoscopy Technician: Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Registered Nurse: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
  • Endoscopy Technician: High School diploma or GED.
  • Registered Nurses: Proficiency in endoscopy procedures, including advanced EUS, EBUS, and ERCP.
  • Endoscopy Technicians: Comfortability performing advanced endoscopy procedures, processing scopes, and rotating through various tasks in the department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in the endoscopy unit.
  • Perform upper and lower endoscopy procedures, including advanced procedures like EUS, EBUS, and ERCP.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative recovery (Phase I and Phase II), including ICU-level care.
  • Float to Pre-Operative or PACU areas as needed.
  • Assist with robotic-assisted bronchoscopy using the ION robot.
  • Utilize Omnicell and Alaris systems for patient care.
  • Participate in weekend rotation every 3rd weekend.
  • Be on-call at least once a week.
  • Work 2 out of 4 major holidays.
  • Direct time off requests to the Manager for approval.
  • Potentially volunteer for low census periods without pay.
