About The Position

Hartford Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join their inpatient endocrinology team. Duties include managing inpatient diabetes of complex endocrinology populations across all service lines and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams for implementation of treatment and discharge planning. Seeking a provider with diabetes, endocrine, or inpatient experience; inpatient diabetes experience is preferred but not required. Schedule requires weekend coverage only, with mandatory schedule flexibility during the onboarding and training period.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • APRN (Nurse Practitioner) or Physician Assistant training
  • 1+ years’ experience in an endocrinology setting
  • Weekend coverage only
  • Mandatory schedule flexibility during the onboarding and training period

Responsibilities

  • Managing inpatient diabetes of complex endocrinology populations across all service lines
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams for implementation of treatment and discharge planning
  • Perform routine physical examinations
  • Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols
  • Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to physician
