About The Position

This position is for an Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant on an initial 3-month contract with potential for extension. The role involves outpatient coverage, managing an average of 12 patients per day, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics, and the EMR system used is EPIC. The primary reason for this coverage is a long-term permanent search. The role requires conducting comprehensive patient assessments, developing treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, managing chronic conditions, providing patient education, performing procedures, and collaborating with healthcare teams. Strong clinical knowledge, communication, critical thinking, and time management skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Active Georgia licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-year Endocrinology experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Georgia OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Georgia
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
