About The Position
Reporting to the Supervising Physician, the Pediatric Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)’s primary responsibility is to provide high-quality medical care to infants, children, and adolescents while fostering their overall health and well-being. The Pediatric PA/NP will deliver care in accordance with standardized procedures, protocols, and within the scope of their licensure and credentialing. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (Pediatric or Family NP preferred) or of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Active and unrestricted California PA or NP license
- National board certification (e.g., PNP, FNP), if applicable
- NCCPA certification, if applicable
- Active DEA Registration
- Minimum of one (1–2) years of pediatric or primary care experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate
- Spanish speaking required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, including patient histories, physical examinations, and ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests
- Perform well-baby and well-child check-ups in accordance with pediatric guidelines
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions within scope of practice
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications (as permitted), therapies, and preventive care measures
- Administer immunizations and provide education on vaccination schedules and disease prevention
- Monitor growth and development, addressing physical, emotional, and behavioral concerns
- Provide patient and family education on nutrition, safety, hygiene, and overall wellness
- Refer patients to specialists when clinically indicated
- Participate in care team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives
- Practice strictly within the scope of licensure, training, and standardized procedures, and seek physician consultation when clinical situations exceed scope or complexity thresholds
- Support organizational goals by fostering teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication across departments
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, specialists, and community resources to coordinate patient care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
- Stay current with advancements in pediatric medicine, including attending continuing education opportunities and following evidence-based practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including histories, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes.
- Adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards in pediatric practice, including HIPAA compliance and best practices in patient confidentiality.
- Comply with all safety, emergency, hazard, OSHA, sterilization, clinical, quality assurance, and administrative protocols, guidelines, and standards.
- Build and maintain patient confidence through effective communication, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Will cultivate teamwork, unity, harmony, goodwill and work closely with all members of the employees, staff, CEO, and administration.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and other relevant laws to protect patient privacy and confidentiality in all communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO and administration.
