This role involves performing emergency medical care in accordance with EMT certification, administering additional care as indicated or directed. The position requires reporting observations and medical care of patients to receiving facility staff, assisting facility staff as requested, and ensuring compliance with infection control and patient rights. Responsibilities also include maintaining the ambulance in efficient operating condition, ensuring it is clean, decontaminated, restocked, and that all equipment is ready for use. The EMT may also assist in the hospital with basic patient care needs within their scope of certification and teach BLS classes. Patient and staff safety are paramount, involving timely and safe administration of medications and treatments, proper use of patient identifiers, risk assessments, safe patient handling, and implementation of infectious disease controls. Compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, Shenandoah Medical Center's policies, HIPAA regulations, and safety procedures is essential. The role also includes performing other assigned duties.
