About The Position

Superior Ambulance Service is hiring EMTs in Allen Park and other locations. Founded in 1959, Superior is the Midwest’s largest independent, locally owned and operated emergency medical services provider. It employs more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses and operates more than 800 ambulances across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides critical care, helicopter, and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation. EMTs and Paramedics provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides care for emergencies as well as scheduled medical transports.

Requirements

Hold NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) certification or a current state license, or have a license pending.
Be able to provide medical care at the EMT or Paramedic level while safely transporting patients.
Have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record, and be able to safely operate a vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather.
Pass a pre-employment interview, physical and lifting examination, and drug screening.
Attend company-provided training and a driving course.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care appropriate to EMT training.
Transport patients safely and efficiently, including reading maps and accurately identifying street names, house numbers, and business addresses.
Assess patients and accurately communicate their condition to other medical professionals.
Prepare accurate written reports describing patients’ conditions, medical histories, and treatment provided.
Complete documentation needed for billing.
Maintain the vehicle in sanitary condition and monitor its fluid levels and gauges.
