About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for assessing and providing basic management for medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician. The EMT assists with patient care according to individual patient needs and within the scope of practice. The role also helps maintain a safe environment and performs under the direction and supervision of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Basic EMT training or Emergency Room experience required.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Certified or licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity required.

Responsibilities

• Assess medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies.
• Provide basic management of emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician.
• Assist with patient care based on individual patient needs and within the scope of practice.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment.
• Perform duties under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
