About The Position

The EMT is an integral member and leader of the pre-hospital care provider team. The role provides basic life support and facilitates advanced life support for individuals experiencing sudden illness or injury. In a fast-paced pre-hospital setting, the EMT provides emergent care while maintaining treatment standards and protocols, using sound judgment and working closely with the team to deliver patient care.

Requirements

• High school graduate.
• Successful completion of an approved EMT-MAST program or its equivalent.
• Satisfactory completion of practical and written examinations administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
• Current Pennsylvania certification as an EMT or NREMT.
• Current driver's license valid in Pennsylvania, with a copy on file.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Hazmat Awareness certification.
• EVOC certification.
• Knowledge of medications carried for EMT-Paramedic use in treating and managing patients across age groups, consistent with the EMT's level of training and certification.
• Knowledge of basic and advanced life support and resuscitation procedures for patients across age groups, consistent with the EMT's level of training and certification.
• Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to appropriately assess and manage care.
• Knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to operate basic equipment and assist with advanced equipment.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of pre-hospital basic life support experience is preferred.
• Additional certifications are encouraged, such as NREMT, PHTLS, BTLS, and Fire I or equivalent.
