About The Position

The EMT1-P reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for developing a robust preventive maintenance (PM) program using MaintainX to improve asset reliability across the facility. In addition, this individual must have the technical capability to perform maintenance tasks and projects assigned by the Maintenance Manager. They will also be able to train other technicians on task execution when needed to support achieving a 95% PM completion rate. This role must comply with all safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards. The EMT1-P is responsible for improving workforce reliability, reducing scrap, enhancing equipment quality and productivity, and extending the life of facility infrastructure, including air compressors, chillers, pumps, plumbing, and air‑conditioning systems. The position focuses on eliminating potential delays through effective planning and coordination of labor, parts, materials, and equipment access. Serving as the liaison between Operations and Maintenance, the EMT1-P ensures proper planning, scheduling, and coordination of all plannable maintenance work within the facility. The EMT1-P is also responsible for maintaining records and files necessary for meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance activities in alignment with ISO/SQF requirements. All outside vendor scheduling and related work will be managed through this role. Purchasing responsibilities will also be included.

Requirements

  • College degree or 3-5 years’ experience in related field, leadership experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Overall knowledge of manufacturing and multistep converting process
  • Strong leadership and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Possess strong analytical skills
  • Must be a self-starter with organization and ability to multi-task
  • Able to plan short-range and long-range projects
  • Possesses strong project management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and MaintainX
  • Ability to direct, motivate and work effectively with others across all 4 shifts
  • Good understanding of schedule and product line.
  • Knowledge Preventive maintenance (PM) principles and CMMS systems, especially MaintainX.
  • Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, and instrumentation systems.
  • Manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, and downtime analysis.
  • ISO, SQF, GMP, and safety/compliance requirements.
  • Microsoft Office and maintenance documentation standards.
  • Troubleshooting complex equipment issues across multiple systems.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating PM and maintenance work orders.
  • Analyzing maintenance data, downtime trends, and performance reports.
  • Training technicians and communicating across all shifts.
  • Managing vendors, part kitting, and purchasing activities.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.
  • Diagnose root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Work hands-on when needed while supporting a structured PM program.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with ISO/SQF.
  • Collaborate effectively with Operations, Safety Production, and Maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of Work Order to drive a reduction in unplanned maintenance through a PM program
  • Performance reports generated for each maintenance techs time entered into system for both reactive work and preventative work to capture hours utilized vs clock hours
  • Coordinate PM dates with Scheduling and Production weekly against the current production schedule
  • Review and analyze MaintainX records to improve PM schedule and increase effectiveness
  • Work with parts room attendant/ purchaser to be sure parts are kitted for PM's in advance
  • Confirm entry of PM WO's for accuracy of dates time spent and parts consumed
  • Coordinate, plan and schedule MWO's for contractors for PM support, Capital Projects, and facility repairs
  • Work with Safety Manager to be sure all applicable insurance, governmental and safety inspections are scheduled and tracked via MaintainX system
  • Work with maintenance techs to review any and all referenced log documentation and PM check sheets for accuracy
  • Work with maintenance techs across all shift to train and communicate work that is planned
  • Verify any necessary required ISO and/or SQF documentation that is needed by working with the ISO and SQF Administrator.
  • Confirm that PM maintenance work orders are completed in a timely manner by all maintenance personnel. Expectations are to be completed during shift.
  • Provide performance and quality maintenance completion analysis via the following reports (not all inclusive): Number and/or proportion of work orders fully planned in the total backlog, Work Order completed as planned, Work Orders Right First time, Frequency of Repeating Work orders, Incomplete Work Orders by Required Date, Work Orders Overdue from Scheduled Date, and Work Orders Complete by Tech Type
  • Must comply with all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Required to maintain consistent and acceptable attendance according to the assigned schedule provided by the manager
  • Meet departmental goals and defined key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Able to read and interpret pneumatic, instrumentation, hydraulic and electrical drawings and manuals to the extent of transferring the ability to others
  • In-depth advanced abilities to troubleshoot all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and operational issues such as but not limited to; HVAC, process chilled water systems, heating, automation, extrusion, ECT.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for efficient asset utilization and resource loading.
  • Responsible for maintaining reducing unplanned downtime with effective PM program
  • Responsible for Pareto of highest downtime codes and specific reason along with developing plan to resolve.
  • Direct, support and guide all Techs with the use of MaintainX
  • Ensures food safety, good manufacturing practices, and ISO Quality System processes are maintained.
  • Assist (work) in PM’s as needed.
