About The Position

Patriot Ambulance Service offers a tuition-free Emergency Medical Technician trainee program in Flint, Michigan. The accelerated program includes 10 weeks of hands-on instruction, classroom learning, practical skills development, and paid ride-alongs, followed by two weeks dedicated to testing and preparation for the certification exam. Training is through the American Training Institute and is scheduled Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. After completing training and passing the certification exam, trainees transition to a full-time EMT role, working in the field alongside an experienced partner. The company provides mentorship, continued learning, and opportunities for career advancement. The post-licensure compensation is $19.28 per hour.

Requirements

Must be 19 years old.
High school diploma, GED, homeschool equivalent, or status as a dual-enrolled high school senior.
Valid Michigan driver's license, clean driving record, and three years of driving experience.
Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
Proof of required vaccinations.
Willingness to remain calm under pressure, show empathy in emotionally intense situations, and complete the full training and licensing process.

Responsibilities

Participate in the 10-week accelerated EMT training program and two weeks of certification testing and preparation.
Learn emergency care fundamentals and develop practical EMT skills through classroom instruction and hands-on training.
Participate in paid ride-alongs and gain real-world experience.
Complete the training and licensing process and pass the certification exam.
After licensure, work in the field alongside an experienced EMT partner.
