About The Position

Paramedics respond to medical and traumatic emergencies and provide basic and advanced life support procedures and transportation to the most appropriate facility. They also provide basic and advanced support services to interfacility transfer patients as required. Paramedics carry themselves professionally and assist other company departments where needed. This role involves responding to emergencies, providing medical care at the scene and en route, and ensuring patient safety and well-being. The position also includes administrative tasks, equipment maintenance, and participation in community education programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must be 25 years old.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management abilities.
  • Currently certified as a Paramedic by the State of Georgia Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services required.
  • Current certification in CPR – Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Safety and Health Institute.
  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider.
  • A current and active Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment and common sense with a thorough understanding of emergency medical care principles.
  • Ability to work efficiently and interact constructively and professionally with other employees, a partner, public safety personnel, medical staff, and other emergency medical service members.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with patients, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public.
  • Demonstrates a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high-quality patient care.
  • The ability to perform effectively as the team leader in patient care situations.
  • The ability to perform effectively in public relations and community education functions and deal effectively with members of the medical community and the general public in promoting the company.
  • The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds with assistance without difficulty.
  • The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty and the ability to lift and carry 150 pounds up and down two flights of stairs with assistance without difficulty.
  • The ability to sit or stand for long periods.
  • The ability to walk a distance of one-quarter of a mile without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties.

  • Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to select medical and traumatic emergencies, as well as inter-facility transfers to hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes.
  • Provide emergency medical care at the scene, en route, and during transportation, adhering to company, local, regional, and state guidelines.
  • Perform basic (or intermediate) life support procedures based on certification level.
  • Perform other duties related to emergency and non-emergency medical care and the development of the emergency medical system.
  • Present an example of professionalism and leadership, prioritizing patient care excellence.
  • Ensure knowledge, understanding, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Continuously strive to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
  • Ensure the vehicle and equipment are ready for use at the beginning of the shift and after every call.
  • Respond to emergencies and non-emergencies using appropriate care and caution, following all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation and Infection Control policies.
  • Act as a team leader when necessary, directing and supervising other members of the emergency medical care team.
  • Render emergency and non-emergency care with good judgment and high-quality medical care, safely transporting patients to the most appropriate facility.
  • Perform Advanced Life Support procedures as per appropriate Protocols under the direction and supervision of the Medical Control Physician.
  • Work professionally with all personnel and maintain good relations with outside staff and services.
  • Act in the best interests of high-quality patient care and reflect credibly on the company.
  • Act with personal safety and the safety of others in mind.
  • Provide comprehensive reports to receiving staff upon patient delivery.
  • Complete all appropriate documentation, Patient Care Records, and other record-keeping for every patient contact.
  • Participate in public relations and community education programs.
  • Attend appropriate continuing education courses and ensure continuity with required certifications.
  • Provide the company with current copies of certifications, driver's license, etc.
  • Complete training in all company, state, and federal mandates.
  • Report to assigned shifts in proper uniform and on time, remaining on duty until properly relieved.
  • Accommodate and train third riders for orientation and/or educational purposes, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Consult with supervisor on non-routine matters.
  • Complete various day-to-day assignments such as cleaning, laundry, and trash removal.
  • Complete any other tasks or duties as assigned.
