About The Position

The Portfolio Assistant is responsible for assisting the Business Banker with office duties such as opening/closing the office, answering the phone and providing exceptional customer service. Team member will serve as face of the bank, relationship contact and liaison between the client and other areas of the Bank in resolving client problems and meeting the client’s needs. The team member will assist the customers, bank staff and third-party relationships on behalf of the lender. The assistant will work closely with the lender on business development and marketing efforts. The team member is responsible for assisting with origination documentation and follow-up for loan closings. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and conformance with Bank policies and procedures. They will work closely with the loan officer as well as the Bank’s approved settlement agents, obtaining the necessary documentation needed for the transaction to ensure that the loan package is compliant according to regulatory guidelines and that lien attachment has been properly established. The assistant will work with the loan officer to clear document exceptions both prior to and post-closing. They will assist in managing various portfolio items necessary to service existing loans and maturing loans. The team member is responsible for: cross selling bank products and services to customers through telephone contacts and personal visits building long-term customer relationships maintaining a positive service mentality ensuring superior quality service in completing all customer transactions matching the financial needs that achieve those customer goals with product and service solutions demonstrating an accurate knowledge of the bank's products and services The employee will complete job duties in accordance to compliance guidelines and regulations. The employee will support the bank's strategic goals, vision, mission, core values, service standards and service philosophy in actions, words and deeds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Basic knowledge of the bank's products and services
  • Willingness to serve
  • Ability to function efficiently in a network environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • Ability to function efficiently on a general business level of math
  • General accounting knowledge (i.e. debits, credits, and an understanding of the bank's account reconciliations)
  • Ability to project a professional image by adhering to guidelines in the employee handbook
  • Ability to collect, research, and analyze information skillfully
  • Self-starter, creative thinker, flexible, eager, nurturing, open to change, and exhibit good judgment
  • Leader by example, attentive to detail, work well with others, and responsive to supervisory guidance
  • Ability to identify and interpret trends in financial data
  • Working knowledge of compliance guidelines for the bank and the industry
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience with loan software
  • Knowledge of loan documentation necessary for consumer and commercial lending
  • Knowledge of lending regulations
  • Ability to read financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss statement, and cash flow statement)
  • Understanding of loans and commitment letters

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred
  • Three-year banking, administrative, and related sales experience preferred
  • Broad, general knowledge of insurance products
