About The Position

The EMT/Paramedic will provide a full range of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) services within the assigned medical treatment facility and supported geographical area. This includes operating ambulance radio equipment, providing necessary medical care during transport, controlling and disposing of medical waste, restocking and cleaning vehicles and equipment, ensuring vehicle safety and functionality, documenting patient treatment, stabilizing patients according to protocols, lifting and transferring patients, placing patients on monitoring equipment, administering treatments within scope of certification, and transporting patient belongings. Additionally, the EMT/Paramedic may provide patient care within an assigned medical facility emergency department, including registration, triage, screening, assisting nurses and physicians, and supporting general operations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited NREMT/EMT training program.
  • Possess and maintain appropriate certification as an NREMT, NRAEMT, or NRP, or applicable state EMT certification.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an EMT, NREMT, NRAEMT, or NRP after graduation.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) services within the assigned medical treatment facility and supported geographical area.
  • Maintain proficiency in the operation of ambulance radio equipment.
  • Monitor and operate ambulance radio equipment as required by the circumstances.
  • Provide patients with necessary and appropriate medical care consistent with available ambulance equipment, supplies, certification, training, and experience during transport.
  • Control and properly dispose of all medical waste generated during patient transport.
  • Conduct routine restocking, cleaning, and disinfection of the vehicle, equipment, and medical supplies.
  • Ensure ambulances are safe to operate, sanitary, properly equipped, and functioning correctly.
  • Document all treatment provided to patients during transportation.
  • Rapidly stabilize patients according to Advanced Life Support (ALS) protocols and applicable EMS written protocols.
  • Lift, transfer, transport, and deliver patients to designated medical facilities.
  • Place patients on appropriate monitoring equipment.
  • Administer injections, IVs, oxygen, dressings, and other treatments within the scope of certification and applicable protocols.
  • Transport patient records, baggage, and personal belongings as necessary.
  • Redress patient wounds as required.
  • Conduct patient registration, triage, and screening in accordance with emergency department protocols.
  • Provide care within the scope of Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic training, certification, and experience.
  • Assist with cleaning and preparing patient rooms.
  • Restock and organize medical equipment and supplies.
  • Assist nurses and physicians with patient care as delegated.
  • Support general emergency department operations as needed.
