Mets Baseball & Softball Camps EMT/Nurse Intern (Westport - CT/Westchester)
About The Position
Mets Baseball Camps is seeking an EMT/Nurse Intern to serve as an Assistant Site Director for their summer youth camps across Long Island/Brooklyn and New Jersey/Connecticut. The ideal candidate is energetic, positive, and passionate about inspiring youth to make good choices and be accountable, all while ensuring a fun experience. The camp provides equipment, training, and curriculum, while the intern provides leadership to help campers develop baseball/softball skills, make friends, and appreciate personal accountability. The role is suitable for individuals with varying coaching skill levels for ages 4-13.
Requirements
- Experience working with children ages 4-13
- Experience coaching and/or playing baseball/softball at a high school level or higher
- CPR/AED and First-Aid certified
- Interested in gaining unique experience in the healthcare field
- Able to connect with children both one-on-one and in a group setting
- Leads by example with strong character, integrity, and a positive attitude
- Dependable and reliable
- Prepared to make a 9-week commitment Monday-Friday for approximately eight hours per day from June 15, 2026, to August 21, 2026
- Prepared to travel to each site with reliable transportation of your own
- Able to pass a comprehensive background screening
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe camp environment for all staff, campers, and parents.
- Administer first-aid properly as needed to campers and staff, and manage inventory of first aid supplies.
- Manage medications for campers with life-threatening allergies and other medical needs (e.g., EpiPens) and ensure coaches are aware of campers requiring extra attention.
- Communicate to parents and headquarters regarding injuries, illnesses, and incidents that occur at camp.
- Maintain detailed health records of campers.
- Work proactively with all camp staff to ensure a preemptive approach to minimize injury and risk.
- Assist with resolving camper conflicts and creating a positive and friendly environment.
- Assist with the production and organization of essential camp reports including attendance, employee timekeeping, and customer service-related records.
- Conduct health checks and provide day-to-day medical care.
