About The Position

Provide basic support care to patients, ground transportation, and provide technical support to the emergency department to optimize patient care. Requirements

  • General knowledge of typical office technologies such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and typical office software.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions, EMTALA, HITECH and HIPAA.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures common to the emergency department.
  • Knowledge of emergency communication techniques.
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for emergency management procedures.
  • Patient/customer service skills, interpersonal skills and good communication skills.
  • Ability to manage their time and organize their work to ensure efficient performance.
  • Ability to follow policy, procedure and instructions, actively communicate with their supervisors to ensure understanding and manage their work accordingly.
  • Ability to understand and manage patient/customer confidentiality.
  • Ability to provide basic and advanced emergency care.
  • Above average interpersonal skills.
  • Above average written and oral communication.
  • High school diploma
  • EMT I Certification
  • 2 years in patient care
  • BLS certified

Responsibilities

  • Respond to onsite medical emergencies, conduct a preliminary medical assessment of the patient(s) condition(s), triage and provide intervention per protocol, communicate interventions and status to care facility and safely transport patients to hospital as required by condition(s).
  • Apply artificial respiration or administer oxygen in cases of asphyxiation, dyspnea or hypoxia, start and administer intravenous fluids, and perform other emergency medical procedures during on site stabilization and transportation.
  • Identify cardiac dysrhythmia or arrhythmia and intervene with American Heart Association approved basic life support.
  • Assist providers in the emergency room to include, but not limited to, point of care testing, wound care, phlebotomy, IV, EKGs, monitors and preparation for additional patient transport to higher level of care.
  • Provide education to community residents regarding emergency medical care and prevention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
