About The Position

The EMT-Basic will perform age-specific pre-hospital care at the basic level, assisting the paramedic partner. This role involves operating the ambulance and its equipment, performing light housekeeping at the stations, and acting as a liaison between patients/significant others and hospital staff. The EMT-Basic will follow the policies and procedures of the Ambulance Department and perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Team Leader. The position requires adherence to the hospital's values-based competencies, core behavioral competencies, and performance outcomes.

Requirements

Graduate of basic EMT program.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have 5 years of driving experience with a clean MVR.
Valid and current Illinois driver’s license
Illinois State Certified EMT-Basic license
BLS Healthcare Provider CPR card
ACLS and PALS certification within 90 days of hire date.
ITLS certification within 1 year of hire date.
Complies with continuing education requirements as set forth by the EMS system and the State of Illinois.
Meet and maintain physical ability to perform EMS/Rescue operations.

Nice To Haves

Experience in emergency driving situations desired.
