The Emergency Medical Technician administers basic life support care and transport to patients in pre-hospital settings as authorized and directed by a physician. This role involves performing a variety of skills in acute and non-acute ground transport settings, responding to medical emergencies in a 911 context, and protecting life by administering cardiac and trauma support. The EMT-Basic administers initial treatment at emergency scenes, assesses patient response, and makes necessary adjustments. They are also responsible for gathering and analyzing information, using reason when dealing with emotional topics, managing difficult customer situations, and maintaining confidentiality. All driving positions require a current driving record and meeting eligibility requirements.
