About The Position

The incumbent in this PRN (as-needed) position performs skilled emergency medical services work, including patient assessment, stabilization, treatment, and transport in a prehospital environment. Duties are performed in accordance with SDEMS treatment guidelines, policies, and the individual's level of certification. The incumbent may also provide public education when needed and represent Santo Domingo Emergency Medical Services (SDEMS) in a professional and culturally respectful manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Current and valid New Mexico: EMT-Basic, or EMT-Intermediate, or Paramedic license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, and other certifications required based on certification level.
  • Candidate must satisfactorily complete the SDEMS written and scenario-based testing.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology and be able to translate into simple and understandable explanations for all community members.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills.
  • May be required to work various shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays and/or as assigned by the EMS Chief/Director.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a background check and new hire drug screening.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license with ability to meet Santo Domingo Pueblo's liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of EMS field experience preferred.
  • Experience working with tribal communities and cultural sensitivity preferred.
