About The Position

American Medical Response (AMR) Military EMT Academy is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre-hospital medicine. This program is designed to build a pipeline of individuals interested in future EMT classes. The primary focus of an EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. An EMT possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. An EMT performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • Proof of a HS diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • All required immunizations
  • Successfully complete the pre-employment screening (motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing, and a physical agility test)
  • Be an Active-Duty Service Member within 180 days of EAS with command approval.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of the NREMT exam
  • Obtain state EMT-B certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients.
